Module Aims

The aim of this module is for students to identify gaps in their academic and professional knowledge and experience with respect to UK Standard for professional Engineering Competencies (UK-Spec). The student must then develop a detailed learning contact to identify their learning objectives and hence devise a programme of work related study to meet the requirements of the programme and the UK-Spec.

Content Summary

Using the Professional Development Audit as a basis the students are required to identify areas in the UK-Spec which they need to address for them to develop both academically and professionally. A plan of study is constructed by the student in conjunction with the University and their employer to address the shortfall in achieving the competences set out in the UK-Spec through undertaking work based projects. The projects undertaken should be critically assessed to ensure that the learning objectives are achievable and they are in the strategic interests of the employer.\\r
