1. To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge that underpins the complex nursing care undertaken in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

2. To promote quality, evidence based nursing care to critically ill neonates by competent practitioners working in partnership with families

LO1 Provide in-depth understanding of the physiology transition of the premature neonate whilst critically analyzing the professional, ethical and legal implications of the nurse’s role in support of neonates and their families.
LO2 Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, provide and evaluate evidence based care for a neonate requiring intensive care through the completion of clinical competencies.
