Module Aims
To introduce students to the principles of procurement, purchasing and supply and develop their ability to specify the necessary goods and services required by the organisation;
To enable students to compare and contrast the strategic links between procurement, purchasing and the notion of supply chain management developing their ability to effectively and ethically manage supply as a holistic process.
To enable students to understand that purchasing holds a strategic position in the effective management of an organisation in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

The diversity of procurement and purchasing applications and environments

Theoretical perspectives of procurement and supply
Predominant organisation theories adopted in the study of procurement and supply, this will include an overview of Resource Based View, Transaction Cost Economics and Dynamic Capabilities and how these relate to the philosophical paradigms of knowledge acquisition.
