Module Aims

To critically appraise factors influencing growth, development, health and well-being, which will enable the SCPHN student to conceptualise and critically analyse the strategies necessary to assess growth, health and development across the lifespan. To analyse theories, policy and practice underpinning SCPHN.

Content Summary

Critically explore the concept of health, wellbeing and development. To explore the impact of genetics, nutrition and other factors influencing growth and development; Assessment of physical, emotional and social health and development incorporating evidence based assessment tools, addressing the complex needs of individuals coping with, poor health, illness disease and loss. Principles of screening and surveillance. Appraise public health services to support families and individuals. Establish relationships to sustain practice.

LO4 The student will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the NMC and NOS standards relating to SCPHN (Health Visiting and School Nursing).
