Module Aims

The overall aim of this module is to enable the learner to engage in critical reflection of their learning through their work experience.

Content Summary

The student will be required to reflect on the role of the Occupational Health Nurse in relation to the context of the workplace and the expected professional practice at a level appropriate to the learner.

This module will facilitate the development of Personal Development Planning (PDP) through the delivery of the key skills identified in the module descriptor.

The delivered content of the module includes:

Occupational Health - the History of Occupational Health and what is new.

Use of reflection and reflective models to develop own practice.

Health needs assessment and case management.

Introduction to risk assessment within the workplace.

HSE - Health and Safety – The Health Surveillance Cycle – COSHE Health Surveillance – Principles of Good Practice – HSE Legislation.

Equality and diversity.

Confidentiality.

Report writing skills and record keeping.

Biopsychosocial model of health,

Effects of work on health and health on work.

Motivational interviewing
