Module Aims

The aim of the module is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to develop and build effective team relationships through effective leadership with a focus on sustainable service delivery within health and social care settings.

Content Summary

The module will explore the theory of leadership, team dynamics and structure, effective communication, team building, conflict resolution, evaluation and sustainability and change management. Students will be supported through group work to critically explore and examine barriers and solutions to practice based scenarios to enhance understanding. Inclusivity, ethics and challenging structural determinants are key themes of the module. Critical reflection, as part of leadership development through exploring self-awareness and emotional intelligence; the importance of reflexivity as an integral element of continuing professional development will be a key focus throughout the module.  The module provides practical resources of the key issues analysed and studied for students to introduce and apply in the practice setting.
