Module Aims
To develop a basic understanding of the main principles of Animal Biology.
Content Summary
Animal Cells: Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells (including origin of life and evolution); Structure and function of cell organelles; Cell cycle and division.
Animal Tissues: Structure and function of animal tissues (epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous); Tissues in the context of organs (e.g. stomach); Use of microscopes to view tissue samples.
Body systems: Structure and function of main body systems.
