Module Aims

To examine the range of diversity and complexity of the interactions of man with animals and their survival past and present.

To enable the student to develop their legal and ethical interpretation of the care management of a range of captive and wild species.

To develop an understanding of the relationship between a captive animal’s natural history and their captive environment.

Content Summary

The role of animal-related charitable organisations.

Working animals (e.g. therapy animals, hunting, farming etc.).

Zoological organisations.

Animals in entertainment (e.g. racing, film and TV, performance animals etc.).

Legislation (e.g. care, rehabilitation, transportation, trade etc.).
