Module Aims

This module will enable students to gain an understanding of site surveying and analysis. Being able to draw and plan a project before construction and to determine levels and falls will potentially give the necessary skills needed to produce quality landscape designs. The resulting calculations will help with costing quantities and planning the overall project.

To provide the student with the ability to assess and implement a range of factors pertaining to final survey drawing production.

To enable the student to implement relevant calculations.

To develop the ability to perform ground measurements using a range of equipment.

To develop drawing and graphical skills to apply to a range of drawings and production.

Content Summary

1. Survey techniques;

2. Calculation types (gradients, ground levels, earthwork volumes);

3. Graphic symbols;

4. OS maps, scales;

5. Costings;

6. Perspectives;

7. Landscape drawings.
