Module Aims

The overall aim of this module is to enable the learner to engage in reflection of their learning through their work experience. The module will provide an opportunity for students to develop reflective practice which can be used to enhance the effectiveness of their work-related experience. Students will be provided with the opportunity to conduct their work-related experience within several key vocational areas related to the sports industry. These will include; school sport, competition/event organisation, community club coaching and other community sport delivery. The intention of the module is to provide students with the opportunity to develop the vocational skills of practical delivery required of individuals within the sports industry.

Content Summary

This will involve an examination of the success of initiatives complemented by an overview of the challenges faced by specific population target groups.

The learning experience will be reflected upon in relation to the context of the workplace and the expected work-related practice at a level appropriate to the learner. In addition, the module will allow students to reflect on relevant vocational skills that are required to conduct specific roles and responsibilities within the sports industry and apply theoretical models of reflection to their own reflective practice.
The module will provide students that wish to continue the employability theme with the skills, knowledge and understanding to progress into the Year 3 Applied Professional Project and Work-Based Learning modules. The content of this module will enable a student to develop those vocational skills associated with being a competent practitioner and that will allow the student to reflect on their ability to deliver practically within their chosen area.
