Module Aims

The module will introduce candidates to the concepts and principles which underpin effective learning and teaching and what it is means to be a teacher or trainer.

Content Summary

An introduction to principles and practices of the main methods of managing learning in typical situations and contexts: including communication skills and styles of teaching.

Reflection on previous experiences of learning and learning environments.

An overview of assessment and evaluation methods

An introduction to learning aids with an emphasis on learning technologies

The roles and responsibilities of practitioners in the lifelong learning sector including the promotion of good practice, challenges of essential skills and quality of opportunity for all.

Raising awareness of teaching and learning in a bilingual setting, as appropriate.
