Module Aims

• Introduce students to audio technical and production skills
• Apply those skills to the creation of media output for a variety of platforms
• Develop an awareness of professional approaches to audio production.

Content Summary

Students will be introduced to the use of audio across various media, such as radio, film and online. Technical instruction will be given in audio recording and post production, to include the effective use of microphones, audio recording devices and digital editing packages for various media.
Students will apply these technical skills to the creation of audio outputs for various media. To this end, instruction will be given in creative production techniques such as sound design, planning, scripting, interviewing and presenting.
Throughout the module, students will be encouraged to analyse professional audio outputs in order to encounter and discover new concepts in sound design.
