Module Aims

* Provide the student with an understanding of the law relating to real property in England and Wales, focusing on the legal framework governing the ownership and use of land and to investigate a number of interests in and rights over land.

* Understand the basic concepts of land law.

* Identify issues of ownership and third party rights in land in both law and equity.

* Discuss the issues that arise in determining the enforceability and protection of rights in land.

* Appreciate the impact and effect of different interests in real property.

* Identify, locate and apply relevant legislation and case law to advise parties to a land transaction about their rights and their obligations in relation to the land

* Advise clients on issues in relation to real propertyContent Summary

The module will examine the following areas of the law of real property:

* The definition of land and legal and equitable interests in it

* Unregistered land

* Registration of title

* Trusts of land

* The essential features of both licences and leases

* Easements

* Covenants

* Mortgages
