To examine the rationale behind the
current trends within globalisation and
global procurement and sourcing. It will
challenge the rationale and significance
of these trends as a driver for strategic
change in the business and procurement
environment of the 21st Century.

• Trends in global trade / structural changes in the global landscape for sourcing.
• The trade theories and their impact on global sourcing.
• Total Global sourcing strategies Vs non-totalist approaches.
• The hyper-globalist view (pro & anti globalist views)
• The perceived Benefits, Drawbacks & Myths surrounding global procurement & sourcing

• The local versus global dilemma – why source from overseas?
• The impact of International culture on global sourcing decisions
• ‘The determinants of national advantage’ (Porter’s Diamond) & the ‘multiplier effect’
• Outsourcing / Off-shoring as a global procurement strategy
2. The global corporate environment
• Corporate governance for global sourcing
• The main types of legislative and regulatory requirements involved in global sourcing
