Module Aims

To develop a coherent and detailed knowledge of effective leadership and management and how it raises standards of achievement.

To consider different strategies of leadership and management and demonstrate a clear knowledge of how attitudes to leadership and management have evolved.

Examine how policy, both national and international, and the demands of the 21st century impact on leadership and management.

Content Summary

Identify different styles of leadership;

Reflect critically on the nature and dynamics of teams;

Discuss effective ways of managing stress and conflict;

Consider the role of the leader in effecting improvement in quality of provision and standards achieved within a diverse environment.

Assess communication models and their role in building teams;

Analyse methods in the allocation and management of resources;

Examine policies and current educational and economic demands which impact upon leadership and management.
