Module Aims

This module will introduce students to a range of practical and theoretical tools to engage with sound recording and sound design for a range of media platforms.

It will enable students to develop their understanding of basic sound recording, mixing and editing skills; aural story-telling concepts and techniques necessary for factual and fictional sound production across media platforms.

Develop interpersonal and communication skills necessary for collaborative teamwork and industry employability in the media industry.

Content Summary

Students will participate in a series of practical workshops that will support:

A working knowledge of a range of location and studio-based equipment and professional practices.

The exploration and analysis of sound in fictional, factual and entertainment formats, used across a range of media platforms.

Story construction using aural material, individually and in groups.
