Enable students to work effectively in production teams, with each member understanding the crucial role sound plays in production.

Content Summary

This module will introduce students to strategies for adapting and interpreting a written drama for various media platforms.

Students will be encouraged to create appropriate sound designs that often accompany visual media and sometimes act as stand-alone artefacts (as in radio) so that believable, visceral atmospheres and sound effects for the appropriate media are created.

Often, students will start with existing source material but will be encouraged to understand that adaptation/interpretation involves a high level of creativity and agency. The students will be introduced to various practitioners’ and to inspire their creative work and reflection.
