Module Aims

To develop students for life as a freelance media professional after they graduate from the university;

To enable students to develop their networking skills

To introduce students to: freelance tax and insurance requirements; networking and personal presentation skills

To enable students to practice soft skills

Content Summary

The module will begin with a series of lectures and workshops by internal and external media and business professionals that will help students construct their identity as media professionals. This will include both an exploration of where students see themselves in the industry and how they might get there (e.g., business cards, CV and promo showreel).

Students will create an online identity for themselves which showcases their abilities.

In addition, they will organise a final group show promoting their skills and promotional material and present them to a panel.
