Module Aims

The focus of this module is to provide students with the knowledge to be able to establish or support community rugby initiatives. The module will also involve students learning the key skills required to effectively manage dedicated rugby facilities and deliver successful community focused events.

The first half of the module requires students to understand the fundamentals of operations management within a rugby environment. The second part of the module will allow students to apply this knowledge in planning, delivering and evaluating a community rugby event.

Performance Management

Planning and delivering community rugby initiatives including: sustainable clubs, taster events and annual events.

The importance of entrepreneurship within modern society and its applicability to rugby.

Management of self and other people, including functions, roles and relationships (incorporating performance).

Managing a safe, effective and ethical environment for sporting activities.

Examination of the ethical issues faced in running rugby initiatives and organisations including: ensuring inclusivity, morality and corporate social responsibility.
