Module Aims
This module is designed to provide students with an introduction to, and appreciation of, construction industry practices, basic skills in the various required areas and an understanding of the numerous stakeholders and organisations involved in construction projects.
Content Summary
This modules content is designed to introduce the students to the construction industry and help them begin to develop a holistic view of the industry.
In this module you will:
Consider how the construction industry has evolved and continues to develop.
Develop an understanding of how the construction industry operates
Be introduced to the various stakeholders in the construction industry
Investigate the professional and trade roles available and consider their duties and responsibilities
Understand the various approaches to financing, procurement and contracting a project
Consider what a construction project entails
Gain an appreciation for Time, Cost, Quality and Health & Safety in the construction industry
Lectures will involve discussions around current affairs to further the knowledge gained in relation to the construction industry
