Module Aims

To introduce the practical aspects of web-based applications.

To be able to design, develop and test web-based applications and technologies.

To be able to evaluate, review or test the quality of computing artefacts. The principles and role of quality management will be applied throughout the computer applications development life cycle.

Content Summary

Web application design:

  • Web design methods;
  • Design tools;
  • Web standards;
  • Legal and social practices such as copyright, terms of use, privacy, use of cookies etc.;
  • Web accessibility

Media assets:

  • Editing and use;
  • Text, images, sound and video.

Web development tools:

  • Web editing;
  • Introduction to CSS;
  • Introduction to scripting, such as creating and processing a simple web based form;

Authoring essentials.
