Module Aims
To enable the participant to develop their knowledge, skills and competence to effectively facilitate and support learning and undertake the assessment of students and others within the context of the participants’ area of practice.
Content Summary
The content will critically appraise and examine:
The theories and principles which inform effective facilitation of learning and assessment in the context of practice.
The evidence base supporting educational pedagogy, exploring deep learning, constructive alignment, pedagogy and heutagogy.
A range of contextually relevant methods for supporting the learning of a diverse student/learner population.
Promoting inclusivity and meeting the equality and diversity needs of students/learners and enabling reasonable adjustments to support and assess students/learners in the context of practice.
The development and enhancement of effective and safe physical, psychological and social learning environments.
The role, responsibilities and accountability of the educational assessor in supporting the learning and assessment of students.
Establishing effective relationships, leadership and team working skills to support the development of students learning and competence/proficiency in the educational and practice setting.
Best practice in assessing and providing feedback and feedforward on student performance to facilitate the development of confidence and competence in student performance.
The use of a variety of contextually relevant methods to critically assess and analyse data to inform the processes of student assessment.
The critical use of reflection to enhance learning, growth, resilience and competence in self and others.
An in-depth understanding and critical application of the processes and policies required to meet professional regulatory body requirements for health care students and registrants to uphold safe practice and ensure public protection.
