Module Aims

Develop a critical understanding of the development of the theory and practice of social pedagogy and how it affects collaborative practices

Explore, evaluate and analyse the role, styles and qualities of effective leadership in different social and professional settings

Develop a critical understanding of the nature and importance of human relationships in facilitating effective collaborative practice.

Examine and evaluate strategies that foster and facilitate equality, promote human rights and support well-being amongst adults, children and young people alike.

Examine the significance of relationships in terms of motivating, supporting and developing effective learning and working practices.

Explore, evaluate and analyse models of effective communication and strategies to support conflict management and resolution.

Examine social and political aspects of human development and the challenges of the 21st century.

Develop skills to support reflective practice in the consideration of multiple perspectives in decision making and an understanding of restorative & social justice.

Content Summary

Development and practice of social pedagogies when working with children and families

Theories and models of working with others to give the professional knowledge and skills of working in multi-agency settings.

The development of effective leadership styles and qualities and the management of others

Models for effective teams; what makes an effective team; how they develop and their dynamics

The importance of Equality, Diversity and the management of stress and motivation within teams.

The role of effective relationships in learning, teaching and working with others

Models of effective communication, how it can be managed and the barriers to communication.
