Module Aims

Module Criteria:

This module has been written for educational practitioners who wish to explore innovative ways of promoting excellence in curriculum design. It may be of particular interest for those who have or aspire to have management responsibility for curriculum design in their professional setting.

Module Aims:

To introduce students to key ideas and processes that enable them to engage with current issues related to improving their professional practice.

To enable students to analyse and evaluate educational research in order to reflect on practice.

Content Summary

Definitions and descriptions of curriculum design.

Adaptation of the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

Opportunities for innovation in curriculum design including literacy, numeracy and digital competence.

Enrichment opportunities within the curriculum.

Using learner voice and wider community to inform curriculum design.

Leading and managing curriculum design.

Review examples of curriculum design at subject and whole school level.
