Module Aims
To develop students understanding of how the theory of leadership has evolved and that its interpretation can be framed by time, culture and context.
To develop students understanding of the relationship between the various models of leadership and management and the importance of the development individual to both concepts.
To support students in being able to critically analyse the characteristics of effective Leadership and Management theory and practice in the context of changing legislation
To develop students’ knowledge and understanding of current research and literature about the varied and challenging role in leadership and management for sustainable school improvement
Content Summary
How leadership and management models have evolved to now place emphasis on the individual.
Team development and the ways in which team theory has influenced both policy and practice.
Effective management of internal change in the context of continual external change.
Relationship of performance management to institutional goals to improve outcomes.
The initiation and sustainability of continual professional development.
Importance of client voice and the use of the wider community to secure improvement.
