Module Aims
To enable students to apply the knowledge, critical understanding and skills acquired during the course of study for a specified module through an Action Research project.
To support students to critically examine the theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches which underpin Action Research methodology and apply this to their own professional context
To support the critical evaluation of the research process drawing on relevant research findings to impact positively on their professional practice.
To deepen students’ understanding and skills to enable them to carry out extended professional research.
To be a vehicle which provides the opportunity for bespoke continuing professional learning as part of collaborative partnerships.
Content Summary
The epistemological and methodological approaches adopted in Action Research.
Ethics in research.
Generating, analysing and evaluating data: for example: questionnaires, interviews, observation, measurement scales, sampling, innovative data collection methods’ reliability and validity
Critical evaluation of published research across a range of professional contexts.
