Module Aims
To develop awareness of professional responsibility in leading and managing safeguarding protocols.
To discuss and apply the principles of safeguarding, utilising case study and case reviews, to integrate and understanding of how leadership and management, of these scenarios, can promote safeguarding.
Content Summary
Definitions of safeguarding in Wales in the context of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act.
The respective responsibilities that professionals from the public, private and third sectors have as regards integrated working in relation to safeguarding and the sharing of personal information about individuals believed to be at risk of, or experiencing abuse or neglect.
Knowledge of the Wales Accord on the Sharing of Personal Information (WASPI) and how it impacts on Welsh public, private and third sector organisations involved in integrated ways of working.
The ‘big picture view’ of lessons learnt and key messages that emerge from case reviews and other case studies regarding the role of integrated leadership and management (or lack of) in terms of sharing and acting on information regarding individuals suspected to be at risk of, or experiencing abuse or neglect.
