Module Aims
The module aims to develop the practical skills needed to function effectively as a sports journalist. These include video and audio recording and editing; operating a TV and radio studio; website development.
Content Summary
Practical module designed to give students a solid insight into the production skills needed across a range of platforms and develop their ability to function as reporters and producers.
Students will be introduced to the camera and audio recording equipment, television and radio studios and editing skills associated with traditional broadcasting. After an intensive practical learning experience they will produce sports bulletins for television and radio.
During the first six weeks of term students will learn the practical skills necessary to operate in a broadcasting environment. These skills will be developed sufficiently in conjunction with the reporting skills needed to produce live sports bulletins by the end of the sixth week.
The role of digital media technologies and how they enhance the traditional media experience will also be explored.
