Module Aims

To enable the student to research future careers and to practice practical skills of career planning.

To enable the student to gain skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the sports sector by undertaking a period of work experience.

Content Summary

The focus of this module is on career development and gaining relevant work experience.

The module considers the nature and structure of the wider sports industry, looking at potential employers and the roles open to a sports journalism graduate within the sector. It will examine the conditions of employment, working patterns and the way the various layers of the industry recruits staff. It will give students practical support in preparing for employment, such as CV writing online portfolio/show reel preparation, interview techniques and pitching. Students will also be supported in finding suitable work experience placement.
