Content Summary

The module includes external visits to museums and galleries, which will directly inform the research and critical understanding of your practice.

You will work in a medium of your choice in response to a broad project brief, in which you will explore and develop skills in the application of a range of processes and materials and in forms and methods of study.

You will be expected to develop visual languages with which to investigate, analyse, interpret and articulate your responses to a variety of subject matter. Visual metaphor, transposition, narrative, contingency, material equivalence and viewpoints will be introduced as means to generate ideas.

You will develop your choice or preferred combination of a range of conventional and unconventional approaches to Painting, Ceramics, Drawing, Printmaking, Digital and Mixed Media.

Your Visual Journal will be used for primary and secondary sources, observational research and concept development.

You will use a web blog to critically evaluate your practice and to engender openness to the work of other artists and approaches.

You will be given guidance on professional development and will learn basic skills in photography, web design and other digital marketing tools and processes. You will research and deliver a presentation on a set topic.
