Module Aims

Develop practical skills in the preparation, organization, administration, marketing, installation, networking, and other essential vocational practices necessary when operating as a professional artist.
Generate ideas, concepts, proposals, solutions or arguments independently and collaboratively in the context of professional study.
Effectively research and prepare a proposal for professional activity in negotiation with a host organization, tutors and peers.
Record, analyse and critically evaluate a professional study placement.
Gain knowledge of working on a client based project, within a specific time period and in an organised and structured way.

Content Summary

The module will give the student opportunity to transfer skills already taught on the course within the context of a live or simulated live project, including, where possible, 70 hours work placement with an external organization. Students will gain knowledge and experience of a professional working environment that may include; working to commission, working on a gallery installation, working in a museum, school or other environment, working collaboratively with students from other disciplines and cultures, mentoring other students, working with industry.
The module will equip the student with the skills to: \\u2028Organise and implement time management skills, be dynamic and innovative within a given framework, promote his/her practice to a larger audience and gain experience of face to face self-promotion.
Students will be required to establish professional skills in project management and budgeting and will be required to work within company guidelines, be aware of policy and limitations when working in the professional arena.
