Module Aims

To enable the student to critically examine the impact of contemporary developments on Specialist Community Public Health nursing practice.

To enable students to identify, assess and communicate effectively with children, young people, their families and other professionals to safeguard emotional health and wellbeing.

Content Summary

This module seeks to address contemporary issues and development in health, and social care which will have a direct impact on the practice environment of specialist community public health nursing. The physical, financial and psycho-social effects of social issues on the population; mental health issues, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and their effects on young people and their families; identification and engagement with individuals and families; professional practice, policy, consent, immunisations, accountability; interpersonal relationships, multi-agency working, participation, collaboration, approaches to working with difficult to engage individuals; evaluation of service delivery.
