Module Aims

To enable students to obtain a critical appreciation of the latest methodologies and techniques for project management

To competently evaluate the processes associated with controlling, executing and commissioning a specific project.

Content Summary

Topics considered in this module under the general heading of Project Management will include:

- Project Initiation and Selection using contempory Standards and Frameworks.

- Project Organisation in terms of Context, Process, and Integration of Sub Projects.

- Project Implementation in terms of scoping, Scheduling including PERT, Resource analysis, Budgeting and Costing including earned value analysis and Quality Control.

- The role of Procurement & Communications.

- Analysis of the 5 generic project processes –
•risk management;
•supply chain management;
•quality management;
•Portfolio Management;
•Health, safety and environmental management.

Where appropriate, topics will be delivered together with the use of or via software packages.
