Module Aims

Provide an opportunity for students to explore the principles and processes relating to creativity and enterprising activity in the sports sector. Students will gain insight into a range of innovative and creative approaches to ‘selling’ sport to the consumer, drawing on examples from other industries.

Content Summary

The module will introduce the student to:
• The nature and scope of enterprise and the characteristics of entrepreneurs.
• The importance of creativity when developing and promoting sports initiatives.
• Innovation and ideas creation for sport and physical activity.
• Alternative business models, formats and organisational structures to deliver sport
• Entrepreneurship and Intrapreneurship
• Consumer behaviour and Market segmentation
• Commercialisation of sport
• Marketing principles relevant to enterprise including: brand management; pricing strategies; competitive advantage; USPs.
