Module Aims
To enable the student to develop a Clinical Nutrition research question that can be answered, and to conduct a literature review to identify, evaluate and critically appraise the current evidence that can be used to answer the question.
To develop the student’s ability to challenge Clinical Nutrition research and to examine the robustness of the evidence base that it is used to inform professionals.
Content Summary
Professional and public perception of the claims of Clinical Nutrition are becoming increasingly sophisticated. It is essential that such claims are based on evidence. This module will explore the reliability and validity of Evidence Based Clinical Nutrition in animals, by developing the student’s ability to critically appraise the current evidence base.
Those students undertaking the BSc Veterinary Nursing Top-up must choose a species linked to their RVN qualification for their assessments. (E.g. Small companion animal cat/dog/exotic. Equine assessments can only be completed by an REVN)
