Module Aims

The aim of this module is to gain basic knowledge and understanding about sports science and to identify how its application may aid the coach in developing athletes to achieve improved sporting performance. This module aims to ensure that coaches of children fully understand the different scientific needs of this population.

Content Summary

Within this module the student can expect to study the following areas:-
• Cardio-respiratory and Skeletal Muscle systems
• Sports Training Principles and physiological adaptations
• Biomechanical analysis of sports movement
• Performer and match analysis
• Skill development and acquisition
• Motor Learning – storing and processing information
• Motivation and performance anxiety
• Nutrition for the performer
