Module Aims

To provide students with an in-depth focus on aspects of childhood and adolescent development.

To demonstrate how research informs practice in working with children and young people.

Content Summary

Building on knowledge acquired in other modules, students will focus on selected areas of development and explore them in more depth. Topics included will be emotional intelligence, attachment, theory of mind; topics in language and literacy development; Risk and resilience in childhood; Physical health and development; Developmental psychology and education; Evaluation of the role of play in development. Throughout this module, students will consider how research in each area supports and informs practice in working with children and adolescents.
