Module Aims

To develop students’ ability to describe behavioural principles and assess the role of environmental events on behaviour.  

To develop students’ ability to select function-based interventions and to consider relevant ethical issues when designing behaviour change strategies.

Content Summary

This module will provide students with an introduction to and overview of applied behaviour analysis. The module will focus on teaching students how assessments can be used to understand behaviour and how to use behavioural processes to improve socially significant behaviour. The module will include an introduction to behavioural principles, the measurement of behaviour, strategies to assess environmental events contributing to behaviour, interventions to teach functional and adaptive skills, and professional and ethical practice.
