Module Aims
To provide students with a broad overview of key research in Social and Developmental Psychology.
To develop an understanding of core, underpinning theoretical principles of Social and Developmental Psychology
Content Summary
This module will examine the core theoretical ideas for both Social and Developmental Psychology. It will also introduce students to key research in both areas. This will normally include information on the historical and conceptual underpinnings of both social and developmental psychological theory and the methodological approaches to both. The specific social psychological content would then typically include social cognition, attribution, attitudes, social influence, group processes, the self and identity, prejudice and intergroup relations. The specific developmental psychology content will normally include attachment, the socio-ecological model, cognitive development, identity development & wellbeing across the lifespan, learning.
As well as summative assessment opportunities, students will also complete a number of independent formative assessment tasks designed to support their completion of summative assignments.
