Module Aims

To provide students with a broad overview of some key biological, cognitive and neuroscience research.

To encourage critical evaluation of current research in specific areas of cognitive and biological psychology.

Content Summary

The module will evaluate theoretical approaches to biological psychology, cognitive psychology, cognitive neuropsychology, and cognitive neuroscience and how these can be applied. Examples of areas that might be covered include current biological and neuroscience research tools (e.g. EEG and eye-tracking), neuro-cognition of language, emotion, speech perception, neuropsychological assessment, cognitive neuroscience of memory and computational models of cognition. The module content will be supported by a series of in-class, directed study and formative assessment activities designed to enhance engagement with summative assessments.
