Module Aims

To offer opportunities for students to critically assess a range of different approaches to management and support of individuals with Developmental Disorders

To foster a strong appreciation of the theory and research underpinning different management approaches in Developmental Disorders

To provide students with some of the ethical and policy frameworks and critically consider their influence on the way in which individuals with Developmental Disorders may be supported

Content Summary

Students will be given the opportunity to critically consider the theory and research associated with different approaches to management and support for individuals with a range of Developmental Disorders, such as autism, dyslexia and developmental coordination disorder. This module will be focussed on equipping students with a critical appreciation of managing and supporting individuals at a task, individual and environmental level. In addition, students will be provided with ethical and policy frameworks that professionals working with individuals who have a developmental disorder work within.

This module includes formative assessment activities, to support students learning and development prior to summative assessment tasks.
