Module Aims
Present and apply basic levels of transferrable draughtsmanship skills as appropriate to illustration contexts. Facilitate the student in the acquisition of a broad range of visual drawing skills across a range of materials and techniques.
Enable the student to demonstrate a variety of traditional and digital techniques as appropriate to visual communication. Providing an introduction to the Adobe Creative Suite and experimental drawing processes.
Content Summary
Students will explore and develop their visual and conceptual skills through a variety of traditional and digital workshops and practical lessons.
Students will be encouraged to explore drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and other traditional drawing and mark making techniques. This module will also introduce digital image making on a variety of software and devices; giving students the opportunity to translate their images for use in a variety of media such as web-based, smart phones and other new media platforms.
Students will create a diverse portfolio of visual work that demonstrates experimentation and exploration of techniques and visual problem-solving skills in response to given creative challenges. The majority of contact time for the module will take the form of workshops, practical sessions and directed study.
Students will be given the opportunity to engage in group-based learning and projects as part of the immersive learning period during the first 6 weeks.
