Module Aims

To provide opportunities for creative experimentation and group work in order to acquire knowledge.

To develop students’ confidence and competence in their artistic abilities for the purpose of both their own art practice, and for facilitating workshops on placement.

To strengthen students’ ability to discuss and write about creative processes in the context of art and inclusive practice.

Content Summary

1) Introduction to the course content and assessment strategy

2) Individual studio practice

3) Group work and collaborative practice

4) Acquisition and refinement of art skills

5) Experimentation with art media and methods

6) Creative facilitation strategies

7) Key artistic concepts and supporting theory

8) Development of critical and analytical thinking, expression and vocabulary

9) Creation of artwork

10) Reflective practice and engagement with critique.

11) Consideration of the therapeutic potential of the work.

The module content will be centered around facilitation practices e.g. building a creative environment, designing a tool for a specific participant group (considering themes such as learning and physical disability, emotional and social needs), creating alternative means of communication etc.
