Module Aims

To develop the initial skills and strategies necessary to develop and deliver a workshop practice as a Creative Arts Practitioner

To encourage reflective, responsible and ethical practice

To understand the expectations of working in a professional environment with participants with a diverse range of needs and experiences

Content Summary

This module will be delivered through a combination of work-based learning, seminars and taught lectures. Content explored through the lectures, seminars and work-based learning will comprise:

An introduction to educational settings, the curricula and the systemic context in which the students will work

Developing understanding of a wide range of disabilities and learning disabilities within and beyond an educational context

Health and safety considerations for practice

Child protection and safeguarding

Professional and ethical context

Session planning and placement documentation

Models and methods of evaluating practice

Developing informed, responsible workshop practice, models of facilitation
