Module Aims

To provide students with an understanding of some of the key areas within cognitive psychology.

Content Summary

The module will promote the understanding of the role of theory in cognitive psychology. It will introduce students to some of the main research areas in cognitive psychology. It will consider theoretical approaches to attention, perceptual consistencies, top-down and bottom-up theories of perception including Gibson and Gregory’s theories of perception. The module will also explore models of memory such as the working memory model and theories of language acquisition.
