To engage students with the knowledge and understanding of how Psychology can be applied in the workplace.

To encourage the development of students’ academic and employability/transferable skills.

Content Summary

This module will develop students’ understanding of professional and work related values and the application of psychology to the workplace. This will include general employability skills, awareness of the contexts in which psychologists operate and an introduction to the concept of “psychological literacy”. Students will develop their knowledge and understanding human behaviour, ethical issues and the application of psychological techniques. This module will also develop students’ academic study skills by introducing them to relevant academic literature which will support their progress across the course. Finally, students will be supported in the development of a number of skills such as communication, literacy and academic management skills.

As ethical and professional practice are key aspects of developing psychological literacy, there will be formative and summative assessment of students’ knowledge and understanding of professional and ethical guidelines.
