This module aims to extend students’ knowledge of the application of psychology in the workplace.

Content Summary

This module will extend students’ application of psychology within a variety of work settings; students will extend their knowledge of ethical and professional issues in psychology along with the consideration and application of psychological techniques and theories in a number of work related scenarios which may include hospital, community health and school settings. Topics will change from year to year but may include antisocial behaviour, deception and health behaviour.

Students will also undertake up to 70 hours of a placement or a placement related opportunity and students will write up a reflection on this. Students can reflect on a previous work/volunteer placement; current work/volunteer placement; engagement with on-line placement related opportunities; students can also reflect on a caring role. Whilst students understand that they are not practicing psychologists this module provides students with the opportunity to gain experience in applying psychological knowledge in a work situation.
