Module Aims

The module aims to provide the students with:

Awareness of the difficulties in defining normality and abnormality with regard to mental health.

The ability to identify different approaches to understanding mental health problems.

The ability to define wellbeing and its relationship to crime and criminal justice.

The ability to identify and measure the biological, psychological and environmental impacts on mental health and well-being.

Content Summary

Behavioural, cognitive, psychodynamic and biological approaches to mental health.

Defining psychological wellbeing and measuring it including normality and abnormality.

The biological basis of mental health and well being.

The impact of environment on mental health and well being.

The influence of mental health and wellbeing on crime.
