Module Aims

Provide students with the core skills required for those aspiring to work in the Visual Effects or Motion Graphics Industries. Equip students with a good understanding of acquisition techniques and the tools that are essential when working with the moving image and sound.

This module gives the student the opportunity to develop creatively as well as technically through immersion in the production process.

Establish an understanding with students of the importance of file formats, planning, and robust workflows and an appreciation of the particular qualities and properties of certain media processes.

No prior experience of media production is required for this module.

Content Summary

Students are given instruction in basic technical skills and set exercises that will familiarise them with the production process.

The module assignments provide students with a variety of relevant projects that will enable them to develop their creativity and find their strengths. The emphasis of this module is on professionalism and striving towards high production values.

Group working skills are an essential part of the production process. Contribution to group work will be monitored by attendance at workshops and meetings which will comprise part of the production package that accompanies the finished project.
