Module Aims
Enable students to generate, complete and present original, innovative design work, to a nationally recognised professional standard.
Provide a platform whereby students can engage directly in the wider issues of the industrial design environment, through entry in Nationally Recognised Competitions.
Further students’ knowledge of the interrelated nature of organisations and professional bodies operating within the commercial design industry.
Content Summary
Analysis of brief: Establishing of criteria for design solution. Research methodologies; identifying the wider perspective of a problem and initiating relevant research to achieve desired results. Legal and financial considerations. Liaison with professional body / outside agency.
Initial idea generation and rendering: Production scheduling and time management. Identification of correct materials and processes.
Selection of final solution against set criteria. Development, testing, prototyping and completion to professional standard.
Presentation to peer group, tutors and external representative.
